Therapy for Caregivers: Caring for Yourself While Caring for Others

Caring for someone you love can be meaningful, but the ongoing responsibility can also lead to caregiver stress, emotional exhaustion, and burnout. When you focus consistently on someone else, it can be hard to recognize your own needs.

Therapy for caregivers provides a supportive space to care for your mental health while navigating the emotional demands of caregiving.

Recognizing Caregiver Burnout

Caregivers often experience guilt, anxiety, frustration, grief, isolation, or resentment. You may tell yourself that you should be stronger, more patient, or able to handle everything on your own.

These thoughts can become part of a larger story in which your needs seem less important. They are not.

How Caregiver Therapy Can Help

In my work with caregivers, I integrate Narrative Therapy, CBT, Positive Psychology, and mindfulness to help you:

  • Challenge guilt and unhelpful thinking patterns
  • Set healthier boundaries
  • Process grief, anger, and complicated emotions
  • Manage stress through mindfulness
  • Recognize your strengths and resilience
  • Reconnect with yourself beyond the caregiver role

Therapy is not about telling you how to care for someone else. It is about creating space to support the person doing the caring.

Support for the Caregiver

You do not have to wait until you reach burnout to seek support. Caring for yourself can help you approach caregiving with greater clarity, balance, and emotional resilience.

If caregiving has left you feeling overwhelmed, depleted, or disconnected from yourself, I provide therapy for caregivers and caregiver burnout in a confidential and supportive environment.

Contact me today to schedule a session and begin making your well-being part of the caregiving story.
